Finding Ireland’s Community Hero
With your help our previous campaigns celebrating Ireland’s heroes, AXA Farm Hero and Covid Car Cover, were a huge success.
The stories we received shone a light on the inspiring farmers and medics all over the country that work hard every day to help others. With AXA Community Hero, we wanted to pick up where we left off. But we needed your help, and once again... you delivered!
This is only possible with your stories
Over the last two months, we received over 1000 inspiring stories that shared the amazing work done by parents, family, friends, farmers, medics, volunteers all over Ireland.
Despite already working a full-time job and caring for her family, one hero decided to train as a carer to help out during Covid-19. She goes out most evenings and weekends providing care to the elderly.
A local postman goes above his call of duty delivering papers and milk outside his working hours to those in need. A farmer teaches local children how to grow their own vegetables and in return the kids teach him how to do stunts on the scooter.
These are just a few of the many heartwarming stories we’ve received. It’s been an absolute joy reading through all your submissions and we want to say a big thank you to everyone who has nominated their hero. Your community heroes deserve to be recognised and celebrated, and this couldn’t be done without you.
What now?
Our panel of judges will take the next few weeks to review all your submissions. They have the very tough task of whittling down all your fantastic stories to a shortlist, and eventually choosing the four AXA Community Heroes.
€100,000 prize fund
Each of our four winners will receive €5,000 for themselves, and AXA will donate €20,000 to a charity of each winner’s choice.
